Today was about looking ahead and imagining brighter days.
I treated myself to some pampering with gift certificates I had been holding onto—a teeth whitening (yep, things are definitely getting brighter!) and a facial.
I’ve always felt pretty blessed with good skin and hair, but when Emily turned on her magnifying light and got ready to work her magic, she paused and said, “Miss Kimberly…your skin looks really good. I mean, it looks really good.”
I smiled. It felt like my inner light was finally starting to shine through.
Before my facial, I stopped by to visit some friends/clients/fellow business owners. We spent some time catching up, but I could tell they wanted to talk about something more serious when they closed the door. Donna sometimes takes a minute to gather her words, and my mind immediately goes to, Something’s wrong.
I had just shared what I’d been walking through over the past few days. I joked that it’s actually an honor when someone can be open, honest, and direct enough to simply say what they need to say. It’s not a confrontation—it’s a conversation. Whether I like the news or not, I always feel valued when someone cares enough to be honest and vulnerable with me.
By the end of that conversation, we were talking about what it might look like for me to work with them.
I left feeling incredibly excited.
I know I have the skills, the experience, and the heart to help support them and strengthen the areas where they need it most. I can’t wait to see what this next chapter holds. I’m open to the possibilities. There will definitely be adjustments, but I thrive on routine, and I truly feel like things are coming into alignment.
Of course, there’s that tiny voice of doubt. You know the one—it doesn’t really have a reason to be there, but it shows up anyway because it thinks it’s doing its job. I think it’s healthy to ask a few questions and consider the unknown, but I refuse to let doubt have the final say. Right now, excitement is winning, and for the first time in a while, the future feels less uncertain and more full of possibility.
After my wonderful facial, I delivered one of my quilts to someone who had reached out online. It was so nice reconnecting with him and his partner. Moments like that fill me with joy. There is something deeply humbling about knowing someone sees beauty in something you’ve created and wants to display it in their home. I hope they find the perfect place for it.
Driving home, Alicia Keys came on the radio singing, Everything’s Gonna Be Alright, and I just knew it was true.
Don’t you love those little messages that somehow find you exactly when you need them?
I made a quick costume change and met up with my neighbor, Wanda. About a year ago, she offered to start walking with me, and today was finally the day. The timing was perfect, the weather was perfect, and let me tell you—that woman is a fireball! We hustled for 30 minutes, and it felt amazing.
I’m blessed with wonderful neighbors on both sides of me, and I realized I need to do a better job of reaching out and nurturing those relationships.
The day ended with another Zoom meeting, followed by a second meeting, so it turned into a late night. I got so much accomplished, yet there’s still plenty more to do. It’s still hard for me to pull away and wind down because I get so excited about what’s possible.
Today was a really good day.
I’m looking forward to tomorrow.
Because sometimes, shift happens…and it comes in ways we could never imagine.
