The past couple of days have been running at full speed. I seem to have a lot of energy lately—not very hungry, just bouncing right along. I keep knocking things off my list… and somehow adding more back on.

Today started with my colonoscopy consult. It went well. Every August, I try to catch up on any doctor appointments I’ve put off during the year. It’s become my month to get everything checked off and wrapped up.

My next stop was something completely different—a full-body scrub and wrap that I had a gift certificate for from last year. OMG. Every single time I do something like this, I wonder why I wait so long to use it… and why I don’t make taking care of myself more of a priority. It was absolutely fabulous.

Before heading to Daytona Beach, I stopped to photograph a woman I know so her picture could be added to a website. I hadn’t seen her or her daughter in a very long time, so it was nice to reconnect and share a hug.

On the drive, it started to rain, and I realized my friend had secretly put some kind of product on my windshield. The raindrops hit the glass and burst into tiny dancing bubbles. I barely needed my wipers. It was mesmerizing to watch… maybe a little distracting while driving, but definitely cool.

After that, I checked in with one client before meeting another. It’s always energizing to meet people in person. We spend so much time hiding behind Zoom screens these days that face-to-face conversations feel like a gift.

By the time I made it home, I was definitely running out of steam. Instead of pushing myself to get more done, I made something to eat, let the rest of the to-do list wait, and simply spent the evening hanging out with my hubby.

Sometimes, taking care of myself isn’t about accomplishing one more thing. Sometimes it’s finally accepting the gift that’s been waiting for me all along.
