Life is not always picture-perfect, no matter what images you see on social media. Tonight I gathered with my cooking class and decided to take a stab at this pie that sounded like a great dessert to make when my hubby gets his citizenship soon. It kinda has the red, white, and blue vibe—well it is supposed to. It was interesting to observe, how I just read the directions like it was no big deal while I looked at this amazing photo. I just laughed trying to dip the strawberries in chocolate that wasn’t melted enough and thought about how this reminded me of that cooking show, “Nailed It.” I began to laugh to myself, realizing perfection was an illusion and that pie in the picture would not be showing up for class tonight. Oddly enough, for me anyway, I began to realize how it didn’t matter; it didn’t matter the pie wasn’t perfect. I pulled myself away from my computer, got my butt in the car and drove 45 minutes to a class, and just showed up. The reality is, I learned a lot, got to try new gadgets and a new recipe—that was progress!
